A question discovered upon proofing a tree swallow nest check book

I love to find small gems of scrawled, fading observations when proofing old datasheets. On this occasion, I discovered a question which I immediately related to, having checked many tree swallow nests in the experimental units of Ithaca, NY in my undergraduate days.

"Did you ever notice the rich sweet molasses smell of swallow nests?"
