The music is always playing
Updated: 6 days ago
The Earth is full of Music. It is a vast symphony, in celebration of life and existence that ascends and resonates in all directions. The music was born as the first molecules of life trembled into being, and the first paths of serendipity were traced by evolving and inquisitive life forms. The music will always be here, as the brief histories of countless millions of exquisite beings play out on a globed stage that the stars alone are watching. The music is always playing. Even if you never hear it. Even if you hear it only once, perhaps when you are young. The music is always playing; the music is for you.
It is playing in the hushed solitude of an early morning train as the sun casts golden wings across the dappled windows and possibilities rise up to meet you.
It is playing in the vastness of the great and fearsome deserts and in the wise eyes of a lioness as she hunts. It is playing in the sacred heart of her life-giving prey.
The music is playing in the majestic steel girders of a sky-bound city, and in the mad crowds and bellowing trucks that pound the pavement and potholes below.
It is playing in the lost worlds, too: the razed forests and the denuded mountains, the oil-slicked sickened waters and the dead white relics of ghostly coral cities that once reefed so many seas.
It is playing, still, for the little turtle who was crushed before my eyes as I ran to her, hoping
against hope to save her from a highway of certain death.
The music plays on.
And each being is a conduit of an unseen sea of sound swirling around us that, once set in motion, will never cease. We sculpt and shape the sea with each beckoning wave of our imaginary batons--and the waves travel onward, dipping and bending towards the curved edge of our small world, and beyond it.
The music is always playing--the music is for all of us.
